Join us here each Monday morning this summer for our Intern Update from Lou Copley! Lou will be chronicling his summer internship with The Safegard Group by detailing what he engaging in and his experience with our company.
Intern Update #3: Engaging
“Engaging” would be a word that accurately describes my last couple of weeks as an intern. Last Thursday, I was able to attend lunch and a meeting with a major client of the commercial lines department, along with Bob Donato, Bill Donato, Apurva Upadhyay, and Mark Skuby. Bill and Mark delivered a presentation regarding safety on job sites to the foremen. It was then that I learned the overall effects that a lapse in safety can potentially have on a company and its future business.
I was assigned the task of filing renewed policies into AMS, printing them, and ultimately organizing them into binders for individual companies. Some of these policies can be found on the carrier’s websites, while others require scanning. In four days alone I was able to input over thirty renewed policies into the system. Per usual, I have also been updating prospect-related spreadsheets for the sales team and cleaning up data within the system as well as fulfilling certificate requests and sending them out to clients.
Joe Abbonizio of the risk control department informed me that I will be accompanying him to a job site to see progress made on client’s current jobs. I am very excited about checking out the site and seeing what Joe does in the field as a part of his career. The next blog post will include details about my visit to a construction site with Joe.
