About The Safegard Group, Inc.

The Safegard Group, Inc. is a leading, full service insurance broker and risk management consulting firm. Safegard was founded in 1994 by Robert V. Donato III on the basis of superior customer service and expert technical knowledge.

Bob founded The Safegard Group in 1994 in order to create an insurance agency with a strong focus on customer service and technical expertise. In his current role as Chairman & CEO, he develops and monitors strategies for ensuring long-term viability of the company as well as maintains relationships with clients and peer organizations. Bob earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Delaware, is a licensed property and casualty agent and obtained his CWCP accreditation from Michigan State University.

Bob is quite active in community service having served on the boards of the Easter Seal Society of Philadelphia, Montgomery, Chester, and Delaware Counties and the Rocky Run YMCA.  He also served on the Board of Directors for the Alumni Association of the University of Delaware.

Bill is responsible for overseeing daily operations, the management, and the strategic direction of The Safegard Group. Since joining The Safegard Group in 1995, Bill has held a variety of positions including account manager, head of the Claims and Risk Control Departments, and Leader of the Commercial Lines Department before being promoted to President.  Additionally, he serves as team leader for all agency acquisitions.

Bill graduated summa cum laude from the Schreyer Honors College Pennsylvania State University, where he currently serves on the Board and is heavily involved in recruitment, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance with a minor in Economics. Bill also currently serves on the Advisory Board for Penn Liberty Bank and as a volunteer at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.  Finally, in 2012 Bill was appointed to the Board of the Westfield Insurance Company Agency Association.
