Join us here each Monday morning this summer for our Intern Update from Lou Copley! Lou will be chronicling his summer with The Safegard Group by detailing what he has learned and his experience with our company.
Intern Update #1
My first two weeks interning at The Safegard Group have provided me with a multitude of daily tasks and boosted my knowledge of the insurance industry. Some of these tasks include: adding, editing and deleting certificate holders, creating auto id cards, reviewing policies to ensure accuracy, finding and printing endorsement schedules within umbrella policies, and updating the contact lists for some of our clients.
I have become more familiar with Safegard’s role in Commercial Insurance by conversing with Vice President Jen Ackerman as much as possible, along with sitting in on weekly team meetings. The Commercial lines team has taught me about a wide variety of topics, ranging from how to perform an audit to how to create an eForm using AMS360.
On a more personal level, I am really enjoying my time here so far. Everyone in the office has been extremely kind and welcoming which has helped make my transition to an unfamiliar office setting much smoother. I was able to go to lunch with some coworkers twice over the past two weeks which allowed me to connect with them and get to know them a little better.
I’m very excited for the rest of my ten-week internship at Safegard. I look forward to all that I have left to learn, as well as getting to know more of the team.
